Gorica Bošković, Dragana Radenković Jocić, Bojana Petrović

Abstract: As competitive priority, quality intensively has been occupying attention of theoreticians and practitioners for more than half a century. Mostly, in their focus was the quality of finished products, intended for external customers. Control acted like a hurdle that can overleap only those products that completely correspond to specifications, preceded from product design. The question is: What happens if the design does not correspond to customers’ demands? In that case, even if product has all designed characteristics it cannot find way to the customers. Therefore, it can be said that quality of design for new or improved products is unreasonably neglected. For that reason, the intention of this paper is to emphasize the importance of quality of design for new or improved products, for providing quality of final products. Authors’ idea is that there is no quality of design if there is cooperation, and even better, co-evolution relationship between organizational units or business functions involved into designing process. Leading motive for the research, which results are presented in this paper, was to indentify the level of connection between business functions involved into designing process in Serbian enterprises.

Keywords:  quality; designing process; competition; cooperation; co-evolution.
